I am the child of a musician. My brother plays the guitar, I started when I was about 15, and I taught myself to play by ear by learning the basslines on my favorite recordings. I lived in a live music town, so by 17 I was playing at least 2 nights a week.
I play the bass because my brother played guitar and it allowed us to play together.
My first bass was a Fender Mustang.
Dirty Mind by Prince
Fresh by Sly Stone
Revolver by The Beatles
Kind of Blue by Miles Davis
Love Supreme by John Coltrane
– but I rarely think that way. Next week I will feel completely different.
Once I had Bootsy and Larry Graham stand on the side of the stage while I was playing.
I saw reverend at a guitar shop in Santa Monica, and the design caught my eye. Then I played it and really liked the sound.
My own model, the Decision and the Dub King.
The sound and feel.
I use Maleco products – any and all.
